World Youth Day, Panama 2019
World Youth Day (WYD) is a worldwide encounter with the Pope which is typically celebrated every three years in a different country. The most recent WYD was celebrated in Krakow, Poland from July 26 to July 31, 2016 and the next World Youth Day will be held in Panama City, Panama from January 22 to January 27, 2019.
WYD is open to all students who are enrolled in Years 11 or 12 in 2019, students who graduate Year 12 in 2018 will also be invited to attend WYD as a part of a special post-school WYD pilgrimage group, travelling with other groups from the Sydney Archdiocese. This event is an opportunity to experience in first person the universality of the Church; to share with the whole world the hope of many young people who want to commit themselves to Christ and others. World Youth Day is a unique way to deepen your faith and grow closer to Christ, by means of prayer and the sacraments, together with thousands of other young people who share your interests and ambitions.
The theme for the 2019 WYD is: “I am the servant of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word” (Lk 1:38).
